How it works

Make it, sell it, produce it.

  1. 1Make

Write in the Scripy screenplay editor, or import a PDF, Final Draft, Fountain or Word file. Polish it with AI script coverage before you put a price on it.

  2. 2Sell

List the script with a logline, synopsis and a minimum bid, plus an optional Buy now price. Pick up to 15 pages anyone can read. Buyers bid through Stripe, and you accept the bid you want.

  3. 3Produce

The buyer gets the full script in their Scripy account the moment it sells, ready for a production breakdown, a stripboard schedule, a shot list and storyboards.

New to selling? Get a read first with AI script coverage, then list the draft that scores.

Questions

How does bidding work?

A bid places a hold on your card through Stripe Checkout. You are not charged. Only the top bid is held: when someone bids higher, the hold on the lower bid is released. The writer can accept the top bid within 5 days, and only then is the card charged. If the writer declines or the time runs out, the hold is released.

What is Buy now?

Some writers set a Buy now price. Paying it buys the script on the spot, closes the listing, and releases every open bid.

What does the buyer get?

An exclusive purchase: one buyer per script. The full script is added to the buyer’s Scripy account as soon as the sale completes, and the listing closes. Buyer and writer then sign the written rights agreement between themselves. Scripy is the venue and the payment processor, not a party to that agreement.

What does it cost to sell?

Listing is free on every plan, including Free. When a script sells, Scripy keeps a 10% fee and Stripe pays the rest to the writer’s payout account. Minimum bids start at $50.

How do writers get paid?

Through Stripe Connect. Writers set up a payout account once, in a Stripe form, before their first listing goes live. Payouts, tax forms and bank details are handled by Stripe.

Can I read the script before I bid?

Yes. Every listing shows its logline and synopsis, and most show the opening pages, laid out as real script pages. The writer chooses how many, up to 15.
